MABEL LAW · WORKING TOGETHER
Well prepared.
A focused conversation.
Which information and documents help depends on your matter and role. This overview provides guidance for the first conversation and subsequent work on your matter.
THE ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
A clear overview
helps from the outset.
You do not need to make the legal assessment yourself. A brief, factual overview helps us get started. The further documents required depend on the instructions.
- Who is enquiring, in what role and for whom?
- Who else is involved, and are lawyers already acting?
- What happened, and in what order?
- What do you want to achieve or defend against?
- Which deadlines, service dates and appointments are known?
MATCHED TO YOUR ROLE
What matters
for your case.
Drafting or reviewing contracts
For clients, contractors, buyers or sellers: the current draft or signed contract, attachments, amendments, negotiations to date and the points you wish to achieve or avoid.
Enforcing or defending claims
For claimants: the basis, amount and due date of the claim, and evidence of performance and payment. For respondents: the claim received, your objections, payments and counter-evidence. Both sides need the relevant correspondence.
Employment relationships and representative bodies
Depending on the issue, employers need contractual documents, recorded processes and participation steps. Employees should prepare items such as contracts, payslips and notices received, including receipt dates. Executives should also state any corporate office held. For employee representatives, the type of body, competence and relevant resolutions must be clarified.
Businesses and companies
Identify the company, ownership structure and your function. Depending on the instructions, a register extract, company constitution, resolutions and relevant agreements may help. Please expressly identify personal matters of corporate officers or shareholders as such.
Family, assets and real estate
State your position, for example spouse, parent, owner, tenant, landlord, buyer or seller. We then agree specifically which certificates, agreements, income or asset documents are required.
Administrative or court proceedings
Have decisions, claims, court correspondence and previous submissions with attachments ready, together with file references and evidence of service. State whether you are pursuing an application or opposing a measure or claim.
COMPLETE AND FOCUSED
Gather what matters.
Keep the originals.
Please organise documents chronologically where possible and include a brief overview. We generally need complete contracts and correspondence, including attachments. Keep envelopes and evidence of service where they may be relevant to receipt.
Initially provide only the information needed for the enquiry. Send identity document copies, health data and extensive internal records only by express agreement. Do not provide login details for anyone else's accounts or your own.
