ANSWERS ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER
Good to know.
The details depend on your instructions. We discuss further questions personally.
What is free, and how does the initial conversation take place?
Mabel Law's initial assessment lasts around 15 minutes, is free of charge and takes place exclusively by telephone. The subsequent initial consultation for detailed advice can take place by telephone, video conference or in person by arrangement. We discuss scope and fees in advance; this also applies to document reviews and representation. More about the distinction and advice costs.
Do I need to know which practice area is involved?
No. Describe your matter, role and objective. We identify the legal questions and consider connections to other fields. Tax and criminal law are not included in our services.
Does my enquiry already instruct the firm?
A simple contact or appointment enquiry does not by itself mean that we have accepted representation. We clarify whether and to what extent we will accept instructions. Where deadlines are running, do not rely solely on a sent message or acknowledgement of receipt.
What should I do about an approaching deadline?
State the specific date and reason immediately, such as a served claim, administrative decision or dismissal notice. Also call us. What matters is whether timely work can be expressly accepted; the enquiry itself does not preserve any deadline.
Can I instruct you for a specific task only?
Yes, for example a contract review, drafting a clause or assessing a claim. Negotiation, correspondence and court representation may be separate tasks. We define the scope together.
Does a company engagement also cover its management personally?
Not automatically. The company may be the client; the personal interests of management, shareholders or employees must be distinguished. We clarify the parties, authority to act and possible conflicts of interest in advance.
Can we work together without visiting the office?
Many consultations and discussions can take place by telephone or video conference. We clarify document exchange, necessary originals and in-person or court appointments according to the matter's requirements. More about working together digitally.
Will my insurance cover all costs?
This can be assessed only from your policy and the specific confirmation of cover. An excess, exclusions or uninsured portions of fees may remain. Information about legal expenses insurance.
What can I do if I cannot afford the costs?
Raise this early. Advice aid or legal aid for court proceedings may be available under statutory conditions. Requirements, limits and official application forms.
Can other advisers be involved?
Yes, where useful for the matter and legally permissible. We agree tasks, information sharing, instructions and costs. Professionals already engaged can be taken into account. External professionals can introduce themselves here.
Can Mabel Law take over an ongoing matter?
We assess this based on the parties, existing documents, deadlines and available time. A transition must be agreed with regard to the previous representation, the scope of the new instructions and possible additional costs.
